A company in the security sector needed a complete office equipment upgrade.
Who is the Organisation?
Security Plus Limited, founded in 1977, is one of Europe's largest independent cash and valuables transit companies. Originally based in Stoke-on-Trent, it began as a manned guarding service but has since expanded to focus on securely transporting cash and valuables for various clients, including retailers, financial institutions, and local authorities.
What were the project requirements?
Historically, Security Plus managed its office equipment—such as copiers and printers—through direct purchases, resulting in a mixed fleet of equipment varying in age and reliability. To modernise their fleet, reduce costs and waste, and minimise downtime, they decided to explore upgrading their systems. WB was approached to propose a solution that would address these goals while preserving their investment in newer devices that were still far from the end of their lifecycle. Given the secure nature of their operations, minimising service calls and implementing strict controls over engineer bookings and toner deliveries were also critical requirements.
What was our process?
As the incumbent supplier, WB conducted a comprehensive review of Security Plus’s entire fleet of copiers, printers, and office equipment. This involved assessing each device's performance, reliability, and usage to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. During this review, WB engaged in detailed discussions with the Security Plus management team to gain a clear understanding of their current operational demands as well as future growth plans. By aligning with the management team, WB was able to assess evolving business needs, such as potential increases in print volume or changes in security requirements, which helped tailor its recommendations to better support Security Plus’s long-term goals and improve operational efficiency.
What was our solution?
Following the discussions, WB recommended a strategy to upgrade the majority of Security Plus’s fleet while retaining the modern equipment already in use. This proposal included a new maintenance plan that encompassed comprehensive, planned maintenance to ensure optimal performance. As a result, Security Plus would benefit from a more efficient and modern fleet, leading to reduced downtime and lower printing costs. By enhancing the equipment and incorporating new functionalities, some tasks that were previously outsourced could now be produced internally on demand. This shift not only minimised waste but also further decreased operational costs, aligning with Security Plus's goals of efficiency and sustainability. Overall, this strategic upgrade positioned Security Plus for future growth while maximising its current investments.
